Yeah but 'unahamedly trendy' was the journalist's words. Tamsin's really inviting. It doesn't seem at all exclusive - more just a clever way of appealing to a new group of people.

I feel your pain, I was made to wear t-shirts under strappy dresses to the school disco too! Don't think I've suffered too much from it though in the grand scheme of things, though at the time it seemed like the end of the world...

Yes, it's a pretty cool website, some great outfits! Not getting married in the near future myself (!) but always like looking at the more alternative wedding sites (East Side Bride is also a good one) as often they've got some great crafty ideas for decorations or ideas for favours that can be adapted for home made gifts, as well as some good cocktail recipes.

Happy New Year to all at Fat-Quarter!

Oh I had a fabulous time too! Much larger than last years Christmas Craftacular, and in such a great space. Was lucky enough to get a free bag too, and really glad I did, I hadn't read Bust before but I love it!

Great article, Jo. I got married in my 30s and people still asked why I was doing it as though it was some crazy archaic thing, but you've pretty much summed up all the reasons. Being a couple was fine but we wanted more than that, it was like supersizing the relationship, making it Relationship Plus.

Just wait till after you've said your vows though, all anyone will say to you for months is "so are you pregnant yet?"

You accurately describe attitudes to marriage in British culture nowadays. We might think the same is true across the developed world, (I certainly did) but it's not the case. I recently moved to Hong Kong - an ultramodern city and society - yet one of the first things I was asked by my chinese boss when I said I was living with my boyfriend was ''any wedding plans?'' - here in Asia, it seems getting married before 30 is the greatest aspiration of the average 20something girl.
